Shannon's Bread & Butter Pickles

  1. Cut cucumbers and onions and place in large bowl.
  2. Cucumber: cut in 1/4 inch rounds, then cut each round into quarters (4 piecs).
  3. Onions should be cut to about the same size.

  5. Add enough water to just cover.
  6. Add salt.
  7. Soak for 1 hour; then drain.
  8. Bring to boil vinegar, sugar, turmeric, and celery seeds to boil.
  9. Add cucumbers and onions to liquid.
  10. Cook until cucumbers change color.

  14. Place in mason jars while still hot to seal.
