Balsamic-Glazed London Broil

  1. Preheat the broiler.
  2. Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  3. Season the meat with the salt and pepper.
  4. Combine the vinegar, brown sugar, garlic, and bay leaf in a large skillet.
  5. Simmer over a low heat for about 5 minutes, or until the liquid has reduced by half and is a syrupy consistency.
  6. Remove and discard the garlic and bay leaf.
  7. Place the meat on the prepared baking sheet and slather with the glaze.
  8. Broil, 4 inches from the heat, turning once, to desired doneness, 12 minutes for medium-rare, up to 14 minutes for medium.
  9. Allow the meat to rest for 5 minutes, then slice very thinly, against the grain.
  10. Serve hot.
