Bananas Foster

  1. Peel and cut bananas in half lengthwise.
  2. Cut each piece crosswise in half; set aside.
  3. Melt butter in large heavy nonstick skillet.
  4. Stir in sugar and cinnamon; cook on medium heat until sugar is melted.
  5. Stir in vanilla.
  6. Add banana pieces, cut sides down, to skillet.
  7. Remove from heat; stir in rum.
  8. Reduce heat to medium-low; cook 3 to 5 min.
  9. or until bananas are evenly coated and tender, basting occasionally with the sauce.
  10. Spoon 1/2 cup ice cream into each of 4 dessert dishes.
  11. Top each with 2 banana pieces.
  12. Drizzle evenly with sauce.
  13. Top each serving with 2 Tbsp.
  14. whipped topping.
