Pretzel Dippers and Beer Cheese Sauce

  1. In a measuring cup put the yeast, and the 1teaspoon of sugar into the warm water and let sit for 10 minutes to bloom.
  2. In a large bowl mix the flour, white and brown sugar, salt, and 2 tablespoons of melted butter.
  3. Add in the yeast water and form into a ball.
  4. Put the dough into a greased bowl and cover with plastic wrap and let sit for an hour.
  5. In a medium sized bowl combine 5 cups of water and the baking soda.
  6. In a smaller bowl combine the remaining butter with the egg whites.
  7. Dust the counter with flour and form your dough into sticks, balls, or braids.
  8. I prefer the sticks rolled out thinly.
  9. Drop the dough into the water and place on a greased baking pan.
  10. Brush on the butter and egg white mixture and sprinkle the coarse salt on the top.
  11. Bake in oven for 6 to 8 minutes or until brown in a 400F oven.
  12. **To Make The Beer Cheese**
  13. Put the cream cheese in a microwave safe bowl and microwave on high for 30 seconds then stir until smooth.
  14. Add the beer and the seasonings then microwave another 30 seconds on high.
  15. When this is smooth add in the Velveeta in small pieces and microwave until smooth.
  16. Serve warm!
