John'S Olde Timey Granola
- 1 c. wheat germ-Kretchmer's
- 1 c. milk
- 4 c. rolled oats - Quaker old-fashioned
- 3/4 c. sunflower nuts, roasted and unsalted
- 3/4 c. soy beans, roasted and unsalted
- 3/4 c. Miller's bran
- 1/2 c. sliced almonds
- 1/2 c. pecan pieces (halves are a little too big)
- 1/2 c. soy bean oil
- 1/2 c. honey (unfiltered)
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. allspice
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 c. raisins
- 1/2 c. chopped dates (buy them chopped)
- Mix together wheat germ and milk.
- Set aside.
- Stir into the oats, nuts, soy beans, bran, almonds and pecan pieces the wheat germ and milk and then the following ingredients:
- soy bean oil, honey, vanilla, allspice and nutmeg.
- Pour mixture into well-Pammed 2-inch deep baking dish, 10 by 15-inch or two smaller ones and bake in moderate oven (I use 250u0b0, but my oven may run a little hot) for about 1 hour and 20 minutes or until deep golden brown, thoroughly stirring at least twice to prevent some parts from overheating.
- After cooling, mix in raisins and chopped dates.
