The All American Burger
- 1 pound Bacon, Sliced In 1/2 Inch Pieces
- 2 pounds Ground Chuck
- 1/2 cups Greek Yogurt
- 2 cloves Garlic, Minced
- 1/2 teaspoons Pepper
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 6 whole Hamburger Buns
- 2 whole Onions, Sliced
- 1 teaspoon Sugar
- 1/2 teaspoons Salt
- 1/4 teaspoons Pepper
- 1 Tablespoon Balsamic Vinegar
- For the burgers: Cut up bacon and saute over medium heat until crisp and browned, but not blackened.
- Reserve 1 tablespoon of bacon grease in pan to cook onions and remove the rest of the grease.
- Drain the bacon pieces on paper towel to cool.
- Mix meat, yogurt,garlic, salt, pepper and drained (cooled) bacon together and divide the meat mixture into 6 equal parts.
- Cut each part in half.
- Form two equal size balls by rolling in hands, then flatten each piece.
- Place one square of cheese in center of bottom patty and top with 2nd patty.
- Press edges firmly together to thoroughly enclose cheese.
- Grill 10 minutes flipping once halfway through cooking.
- To Cook Onions: Cook onions over medium heat in same pan that you reserved the bacon drippings in.
- Add in sugar, salt and pepper and balsamic vinegar.
- Saute, stirring often until browned and carmelized.
- Place grilled hamburger patties on the burger buns.
- Spoon onions over the tops of the burgers, and top with a drizzle of your favorite BBQ sauce and the top bun.
- Enjoy!
