Apple Crunch Dessert
- 1 cup oats, quick cooking
- 1/2 cup all-bran cereal
- 13 cup whole wheat flour
- 13 cup brown sugar packed
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 1 package butterscotch pudding 4 oz pkg
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 22 ounces apple pie filling
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest finely shredded
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- Mix oats, cereal, flour, sugar, soda and spices.
- Cut in butter or margarine until crumbly.
- Pat half the mixture into a 8x8x2 inch baking dish.
- Bake in 350F (180C) oven 10 minutes.
- Prepare pudding mix according to package directions except use the 1 1/2 cups milk.
- Pour over crumb layer.
- Mix remaining ingredients; spoon over pudding.
- Top with remaining crumbs.
- Bake, uncovered, in 350F (180C) oven 30 to 35 minutes.
- Serve warm or cool with ice cream, if desired.
