Joe Luppi's dipping sauce
- 2 cups finely chopped onions
- 1/2 cup butter
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 3 tablespoons chili sauce
- 1 teaspoon horseradish
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- In a heavy saucepan, saute the onions in the butter until golden (not brown).
- Add the garlic and cook a few minutes.
- Add the remaining ingredients and simmer, uncovered, 25 to 30 minutes.
