Joe Luppi's dipping sauce

  1. In a heavy saucepan, saute the onions in the butter until golden (not brown).
  2. Add the garlic and cook a few minutes.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients and simmer, uncovered, 25 to 30 minutes.
