Sage and Onion Turkey Burgers
- 1 1/4 pounds ground turkey
- 23 cup bread crumbs whole wheat
- 1/2 cup onions finely chopped
- 13 cup celery finely chopped
- 1 each egg whites
- 1 teaspoon sage dried, rubbed
- 1/2 teaspoon thyme dried
- 1/2 teaspoon savory dried
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 6 each hamburger buns whole wheat
- 13 cup cranberry sauce whole berry
- 13 cup chili sauce
- 1 tablespoon orange zest grated
- Prepare a medium hot barbecue fire or preheat a gas grill or broiler.
- In a large mixing bowl, use your hands to mix together the turkey, bread crumbs, onion, celery, egg white, sage, thyme, savory, salt and peper.
- Form into six patties, each about one half inch thick.
- Grill or broil the burgers, turning once carefully with a spatula, until browned on both sides and white throughout (about 10 minutes total).
- Place the buns, cut side down, at the edge of the grill to toast slightly, about one minute.
- Serve the burgers on the toasted buns, spread with cranberry orange ketchup.
