Cheesy Meaty Squares
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 links of Italian sausage (mild, sweet or spicy)
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 salt to taste
- 1 medium diced yellow onion
- 2 clove minced garlic
- 16 oz Velveeta cheese block cubed
- 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper (optional)
- 1 tsp vegetable oil
- 1 log of cocktail bread (rye or pumpernickel)
- Add oil to pan, Sautee ground meat until browned and cooked through.
- I like to use a potatoe masher to make into fine crumbles.
- Remove meat to bowl with slotted spoon.
- Leaving oil.
- Then remove Italian sausage meat from casing and add to same pan.
- Break up meat and cook through.
- Use the masher as well to make into fine crumbles.
- Add to same bowl as ground beef leaving oil.
- Add onions and Sautee until translucent.
- Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Remove with slotted spoon and add to bowl with meat.
- To a large pot add meat and onion mix with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, crushed red pepper flakes and cubed Velveeta cheese log.
- Mix until cheese is melted and incorporated into meat mix.
- Set oven to 375F.
- Spoon meat mix onto each slice of cocktail bread and place onto cookie sheet.
- You can choose how much meat mix.
- I like to add plenty bc it's soooo good!
- Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until top is golden brown and bread is lightly toasted.
- Serve as an appetizer and watch it become a party favorite!!
