Barbecue Bread Recipe
- 1 loaf French bread, cut 3 times lengthwise
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1 c. chopped onion
- 1/2 c. chili sauce
- 1 tbsp. poppy seed
- Healthy pinch of sugar (brown)
- Ham
- 6-8 slices crisp bacon, crumbled
- Swiss or possibly American cheese
- Beef (if you want it)
- Heat butter; add in onions and brown lightly.
- Add in chili sauce, sugar, and poppy seed; simmer 5 min.
- On first layer, lay ham and some sauce.
- On another layer, cheese and bacon and sauce.
- On last layer, beef and sauce.
- Put top of bread on and wrap in foil.
- Put in oven 20 to 30 min at 350 degrees.
- Slice in strips and serve.
- Can be made ahead and refrigerated.
- (Left-over ham and beef can be used for this sandwich.)
