Gingersnaps
- 34 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 14 cup molasses
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 12 teaspoon salt
- additional sugar
- Cream shortning and sugar.
- Beat in egg and molasses.
- Mix flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, and salt.
- Gradually add to creamed mixture.
- Roll teaspoons of dough into balls.
- Dip one side of each ball in sugar.
- Place, sugar side up, on greased baking sheet.
- Bake at 350* for 12-15 minutes, or until lightly browned.
- Cookies will be crinkly.
