Danish Puff
- 2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine, melted
- 1 cup Bisquick baking mix
- 2 tablespoons water
- 34 cup water
- 14 cup butter or 14 cup margarine
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 cup Bisquick baking mix
- 3 eggs
- 1 12 cups icing sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 12 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 -2 tablespoon warm water
- Cut 2 tbsp.
- butter into 1 cup baking mix.
- Sprinkle with 2 tbsp.
- water over all and mix until pastry cleans sides of bowl.
- Divide in half and set aside.
- Pat each half into a strip 10 x 3 inches on a ungreased baking sheet.
- Keep strips at least four inches apart.
- Heat the 3/4 cup water and 1/4 cup butter to a rolling boil in a two quart saucepot.
- Add almond extract and the 1 cup baking mix all at once.
- Stir vigorously over low heat until a ball forms about 1 1/2 minutes.
- Remove from heat.
- Beat in eggs one at a time.
- Beating until smooth.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Spread half of the dough onto each pastry strip.
- Bake until topping is crisp and dark golden.
- Should take about 40- 45 minutes.
- Cool slightly.
- Spread with the glaze and sprinkle with almonds.
- To prepare glaze: Mix all the glaze ingredients together until smooth.
