M &T's apple pear and brandy turnovers

  1. Preheat to 425F.
  2. In small bowl soak raisins in brandy, set aside.
  3. Melt butter and sugar in skillet until bubbly, about 2 minutes.
  4. Add sliced apple pears and cook another 4 minutes .
  5. Add in brandy soaked raisins, continue to cook until juices reduce to a glaze.
  6. Stir in lemon juice, zest and cornstarch.
  7. Now add nuts.
  8. Put filling on a cookie sheet in a single layer and chill for 1/2 hour.
  9. On a lightly floured surface, roll pastry into a 12" square.
  10. Cut into four equal portions.
  11. Put 1/4 of filling into center of square and moisten edges with water.
  12. Fold over into triangle and seal.
  13. Place on baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  14. Cut slits on top to vent.
  15. Brush top with cream.
  16. Bake 18-22 minutes until a deep golden brown.
  17. Suggestions....serve with vanilla ice cream and fresh whipped cream.
