M &T's apple pear and brandy turnovers
- 2 tbsp brandy
- 2 tbsp salted butter
- 3 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 lb apple pears, peeled cored and sliced
- 3 tbsp golden raisins
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans
- 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 1 tsp corn starch
- 1 sheet, thawed puff pasrty
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
- Preheat to 425F.
- In small bowl soak raisins in brandy, set aside.
- Melt butter and sugar in skillet until bubbly, about 2 minutes.
- Add sliced apple pears and cook another 4 minutes .
- Add in brandy soaked raisins, continue to cook until juices reduce to a glaze.
- Stir in lemon juice, zest and cornstarch.
- Now add nuts.
- Put filling on a cookie sheet in a single layer and chill for 1/2 hour.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll pastry into a 12" square.
- Cut into four equal portions.
- Put 1/4 of filling into center of square and moisten edges with water.
- Fold over into triangle and seal.
- Place on baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Cut slits on top to vent.
- Brush top with cream.
- Bake 18-22 minutes until a deep golden brown.
- Suggestions....serve with vanilla ice cream and fresh whipped cream.
