Rye Bread
- 3 cups dark rye flour
- 34 teaspoon baking soda
- 34 teaspoon salt
- 1 13 cups buttermilk
- 34 teaspoon sugar (optional)
- 1 tablespoon caraway seed (optional)
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- sift the dry ingredients together 3 times.
- Put all the dry ingredients together in a bowl.
- Make a well in the middle and pour in milk.
- Stir together until a dough forms.
- Wrestle into a loaf.
- Place on pan that has been lined with baking paper.
- Cut a 1/4 inch deep cross in the top.
- Bake for 45 minutes.
- COOL BEFORE SLICING - VERY IMPORTANT!
