Calzone Rolls With Salami, Tomato, and Basil
- 4 large crusty kaiser rolls
- 1 12 cups ricotta cheese
- salt
- black pepper
- 14 lb salami, chopped
- 14 cup grated parmigiano-reggiano cheese
- 8 slices fresh mozzarella cheese
- 8 slices ripe tomatoes
- 8 fresh basil leaves (torn or sliced)
- Heat the oven to 325.
- Split the kaiser rolls, making the bottom half a little bigger than the top.
- Scoop a little of the white soft insides out of the bottoms.
- Season the ricotta with a little salt and pepper, then stir in the salami and grated cheese.
- Fill the rolls with the ricotta mixture, then cover the ricotta with 2 slices each of mozzarella and tomato and 2 basil leaves.
- Replace the roll tops and place the filled sammies on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until heated through.
- Cut in half and serve.
