Marbled Fudge Bars

  2. Grease a 13x9-inch baking pan.
  3. In 2 quart heavy saucepan over low heat, melt butter and chocolate.
  4. with wire whisk or spoon, beat in 2 cups sugar and 3 eggs until well blended.
  5. With wooden spoon, stir in flour, salt, nuts and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  6. Spread evenly in pan.

  8. Preheat oven to 350F.
  9. In small bowl with mixer at low speed, beat cream cheese, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until just mixed.
  10. At medium speed, beat 2 minutes, occasionally scrapping bowl with rubber spatula.

  12. With large spoon, drop mixture in dollops on top of batter.
  13. Using tip of knife, lightly score top surface in a criss-cross pattern.

  15. Bake 40-50 minutes until toothpick comes out clean.
  16. Cook on rack.
  17. cut into bars.
  18. Refrigerate.
