Apple Walnut Stuffing Recipe
- 1/2 c. margarine or possibly butter
- 1/2 c. minced walnuts
- 1 Tbsp. honey
- 1/8 tsp nutmeg
- 1 c. sliced celery
- 1 c. minced onion
- 1 pkt cubed herbed (14 oz) seasoned stuffing
- 1 jar Green Giant Sliced (4.5 oz) Mushrooms liquid removed
- 1 1/2 c. applesauce
- 2 c. water
- In medium skillet, heat 2 Tbsp.
- of the margarine and walnuts over medium heat untio nuts are lightly toasted, stirring occasionally.
- With slotted spoon, remove nuts from skillet; place in small dish.
- Add in honey and nutmeg to nuts; mix to glaze.
- Set aside.
- Heat remaining 6 Tbsp.
- margarine in same skillet over medium heat.
- Add in celery and onion; cook over medium heat for 3 to 4 min or possibly till almost tender, stirring occasionally.
- Meanwhile, spray 4-6 qt slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray.
- Place stuffing cubes in sprayed slow cooker.
- Add in mushrooms and cooked celery and onion with butter; mix lightly.
- Add in applesauce and water; mix lightly.
- Cover; cook on LOW setting for 4-5 hrs.
- Just before serving, sprinkle with glazed walnuts.
- Makes 10 (3/4 c.) servings.
