- 4 -5 pears (any variety)
- 12 cup flour
- 12 cup sugar
- 1 cup granola cereal (any variety will do, but I like vanilla almond)
- 14 teaspoon salt
- 14 cup oil (or 5 Tbsp butter or margarine)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
- 12 teaspoon powdered ginger (optional)
- 1 lemon, juice of (optional)
- Preheat the oven to 350F.
- Grease a 5x9-inch pan.
- Peel the pears and cut the flesh into 1/4-1/2 inch slices.
- Make a layer in the bottom of the pan.
- If you are using the ginger and/or lemon juice, combine those with the pears and toss to coat.
- Mix all other ingredients (including cinnamon, if desired) in a large bowl.
- If using butter or margarine, cut them in until there are no large pieces.
- If using oil, add enough liquid (water, lemon juice, milk, soy milk, etc.)
- to make the mixture hold together into clumps (about a tablespoon).
- It should still be a bit grainy.
- Spread the granola mixture in an even layer over the pears and bake for 30-45 minutes.
- If you'd like the top to be brown, turn the oven up to 400F for the last ten minutes of the cooking time.
