Hawaiian Teriyaki
- 14 cup sugar
- 14 cup boiling water
- 3 lbs sirloin steaks, 1-1/2 inches thick
- 23 cup soy sauce
- 23 cup water
- 14 cup cooking sherry
- 1 medium gingerroot, grated (about 3 T.) or 3 teaspoons ground ginger
- 1 small garlic clove, minced
- Combine sugar and boiling water; cook and stir until sugar dissolves, creating a sugar-and-water syrup.
- You should have approximately 1/4 cup syrup.
- Cut sirloin in 1-1/2-inch cubes.
- Marinate about 10 minutes in sauce made by combining sugar-and-water syrup with remaining ingredients.
- Thread on skewers.
- Broil or grill about 7 minutes or until desired doneness.
- Turn and brush frequently with sauce.
- Heat remaining sauce and pass with beef.
