Mom's Oatmeal Cake

  1. Pour boiling water over oats; cover and let stand 20 minutes.
  2. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
  3. Blend in vanilla and eggs.
  4. Add to oat mixture; mix well.
  5. Stir together dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture, mixing well.
  6. Pour into 13x9 pan coated with cooking spray.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
  8. Do NO T remove from pan.
  9. FROSTING Combine all ingredients and spread on cake.
  10. Broil until golden brown.
