Sourdough Doughnuts Recipe

  1. Resift flour with baking pwdr, soda, salt, and spice.
  2. Beat egg; beat in sugar.
  3. Combine with sourdough starter, lowfat milk, and oil.
  4. Add in sifted dry ingredients and mix to moderately stiff dough.
  5. Roll out to about 5/8 inch thickness.
  6. Cut with doughnut cutter.
  7. Place doughnuts on lightly greased baking sheet; cover and let rise in a hot place about 30-40 min.
  8. Carefully lift off doughnuts with a spatula and drop into deep fat heated to 370 degrees.
  9. Fry to a rich golden.
  10. Drain on absorbent paper.
