Italian Tomato Sauce

  1. put the tomatoes with their can juice if using canned tomatoes into a pan and add sugar, garlic and a pinch of salt.
  2. Cover add cook over low heat for about 30mins without stirring.
  3. Mash the tomatoes.
  4. If using canned tomatoes cook for a further 15 mins remove the pan from heat and let cool.
  5. Stir in the olive oil and basil.
