Caramel Apple Bars Recipe
- 1/2 c. Butter or possibly margarine
- 1/4 c. Vegetable shortening
- 1 c. Brown sugar
- 1 3/4 c. Flour
- 1 c. Quick Cooking Oatmeal
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp Baking soda
- 1/2 c. Pecans, minced, opt
- 5 c. Apple, cooking, peeled and sliced
- 3 Tbsp. Flour
- 1 jar (16 ounce) Carmel ice cream topping
- In mixing bowl, cream butter, shortning, and brown sugar, till fluffy.
- Add in flour, oats, salt, cinnamon, soda; mix well.
- Stir in pecans if you like.
- Set aside 2 c. of crumb mix.
- Press remaining mix into an ungreased 9X13 pan.
- For filling toss apples with flour; spoon over the crust, drizzle carmel topping over apples.
- Sprinkle with remaining crumb mix.
- Bake 400 for 25-30 min or possibly till lightly browned, cold before cutting.
