Macrobiotic Lotus Root Burgers

  1. Prepare both the minced lotus root and the grated lotus root.
  2. Mince the onion.
  3. Saute the ingredients.
  4. Heat a small amount of sesame oil in a frying pan, then saute the minced lotus root and onion until they're cooked through.
  5. Add the soy sauce and salt, then cool.
  6. While cooling, grate the lotus root.
  7. In a bowl, lightly mix (do not knead) the grated lotus root and the mixture from Step 2 with the whole wheat flour and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  8. When the mixture can be gathered into a ball, divide into 6 equal portions, roll into balls, then flatten into patties.
  9. Heat 2 teaspoons sesame oil in a frying pan and slowly fry both sides of the paddies over low-medium heat.
  10. When they fry to a nice golden brown, swirl in the soy sauce, then it's ready to serve.
