Mom's Chocolate Chip Bran Muffins

  1. Pour boiling water over 100% bran in a small bowl.
  2. Beat sugar and shortening until creamy.
  3. Add eggs, buttermilk and bran flakes to sugar mixture.
  4. Mix well.
  5. Sift flour, baking soda and salt together.
  6. Blend into egg mixture.
  7. Stir in bran mixture.
  8. Spoon into tin cupcake wrappers.
  9. Bake at 400 for 15-18 minutes.
