Seafood Boil Southern Style
- Water
- 2 tbsp. salt
- 1 tbsp. whole peppercorns
- 1 tbsp. hot sauce
- 2 tbsp. seasoning mix (listed below)
- 3 bay leaves
- 10 md. potatoes, halved
- 3 ears corn, cut in 1/3rds
- 1 ring kielbasa, cut in chunks
- 2 to 3 lemons, quartered
- 1 lg. onion, quartered
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- 5 lb. raw shrimp
- 3 lb. fresh clams
- 3 lb. fresh mussels
- Fresh crab legs (optional)
- 2-1/2 tsp. paprika
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. oregano
- 1 tsp. onion powder
- 1 tsp. thyme
- 1 tsp. pepper
- 1 tsp. cayenne
- Combine stock ingredients in large pot or several large pots using enough water to properly cover all recipe ingredients that will be added.
- Bring Stock to boil.
- Add potatoes and corn.
- Return boil and boil for 5 minutes.
- Add kielbasa, lemons, onion, garlic cloves.
- Boil 7 minutes.
- Finally, add clams, mussels, and (optional) crab.
- Bring to boil.
- Allow to boil 5 minutes.
- Add shrimp and simmer till clams and mussels open.
- Strain out liquid and pour onto butcher paper placed on the table.
- I prefer to sprinkle with a little more Seasoning mix to add more spice.
- Serve with melted butter, warm bread, and beer or iced tea.
