Chikuwa Rolls in a Teriyaki Sauce
- 4 Chikuwa
- 4 Toothpicks
- 1 tbsp Katakuriko
- 2 tbsp Sugar
- 2 tbsp Sake
- 2 1/2 tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Mirin
- 1 dash Sesame seeds
- 3 tbsp Vegetable oil
- Cut the chikuwa in half lengthwise.
- Roll up the halves and and skewer two rolls on each toothpick.
- Put the katakuriko and the rolled chikuwa in a plastic bag.
- Shake to coat the chikuwa.
- Heat oil in a frying pan and pan fry the chikuwa.
- Wipe the oil from pan, add the ingredients, and when the sauce is glossy, sprinkle with sesame seeds to finish.
- For the quail stuffed version.
- For fried quail eggs and nori seaweed.
