French-Fried Mushrooms
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 30 md. mushrooms
- 1/3 cup flour
- 1 cup cornflake crumbs
- Oil
- shortening for frying
- Salt, to taste
- Grated parmesan cheese
- Lemon wedges, if desired
- In shallow dish, beat egg with milk and salt.
- In another dish, roll mushrooms in flour.
- Dip mushrooms in egg mixture and coat with cornflake crumbs.
- Fry in hot oil or shortening in fryer for 1 to 2 minutes until golden.
- Drain.
- Sprinkle with salt to taste and grated parmesan cheese.
- Serve with lemon wedges, if desired.
