Michigan Baked Beans (Serves 10) Recipe
- 2 pound navy beans
- 9 c. water
- 1 pound salt pot, diced bacon or possibly ham
- 3 tart apples, peeled, cored and coarsely minced
- 1 med. minced onion
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. molasses
- 3 teaspoon dry mustard
- 3 tbsp. vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- Wash and soak beans overnight in the water.
- Add in the salt pork and cook about 21 hour.
- Pour into bean pot, add in remaining ingredients.
- Cover, bake at 300 degrees for about 6 hrs.
- Add in hot water if necessary.
- This is a delicious bake beans recipe which I have found only in Michigan many years ago.
