Blondie's Mom's Blackberry Fool

  1. Mash berries with a potato masher or a large fork.
  2. You can also do this using a food processor or blender.
  3. With clean hands, press crushed berries through a sieve into a bowl to remove the seeds.
  4. Sprinkle fruit with 1/4 cup of the sugar.
  5. Stir.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix together the remaining 1/4 cup sugar, vanilla and cream.
  7. Using a whisk or a beater, whip mixture until it makes soft peaks, but not stiff ones.
  8. Fold sugared berries into whipped cream.
  9. Taste to see if it's sweet enough.
  10. Add more sugar if needed.
  11. There should be streaks of white and purple.
  12. Refrigerate for 3 hours or more.
  13. Eat & don't forget to lick the bowl.
