Caramelized Pears For French Toast
- 1/2 Asian pear
- 1 1/2 tbsp Sugar
- 1 1/2 tbsp Butter
- 1 tbsp Heavy cream (for the sauce)
- Cut the pears into eighths (for 16 slices total).
- Put the sugar and butter in a frying pan and turn the heat to medium.
- Heat while continuously shaking the pan until the mixture has a deep brown color.
- Once it has browned and it begins to smoke, add the pears all at once.
- Be careful of splatters!
- Quickly cover with a lid and shake the pan well to coat the pears in caramel.
- Turn the heat down to low and simmer while shaking the pan occasionally until the pears are soft.
- When most of the liquid has disappeared and the pears are soft, it's ready.
- Add heavy cream to the remaining caramel in the frying pan and lightly simmer to make the caramel sauce.
- Use it for decoration.
