Molasses And Raisin Spice Cookies Recipe
- 1 1/2 c. raisins
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. plus 3 tbsp. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 2 1/4 c. sifted flour
- 2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon grnd ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon grnd cloves
- In a large bowl, beat shortening till creamy.
- Gradually beat in 1 c. sugar.
- Beat till light and fluffy.
- Add in egg.
- Beat till blended.
- Blend in molasses.
- Sift flour with soda, salt and spices.
- Gradually beat in flour mix.
- Fold in raisins.
- Turn dough onto a sheet of plastic wrap.
- Chill 1 to 2 hrs or possibly overnight.
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Grease cookie sheets.
- Shape dough into 1 1/4 inch balls.
- Roll in remaining sugar.
- Place on cookie sheet 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10 to 12 min.
