Spiced Chicken

  1. In a dutch oven, heat oil and butter together.
  2. Stir in onions, salt, pepper, saffron, and cayenne.
  3. Add chicken pieces, turning to coat.
  4. Cover; simmer 45-60 minutes, turning occasionally.
  5. Remove chicken to platter.
  6. Cook and stir sauce in pan over high heat until moderately thick, about 3 minutes.
  7. Stir in raisins, almonds and lemon juice; heat through.
  8. Pour over chicken.
