Gingery Oatmeal Molasses Bread

  1. In medium saucepan, heat first 4 ingredients until very warm, not boiling.
  2. Spoon flour into measuring cup, level off.
  3. In large bowl, combine warm liquid, 2 cups all-purpose flour, wheat flour, and remaining ingredients.
  4. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed.
  5. Stir in remaining all-purpose flour.
  6. On well-floured surface, knead dough until smooth and elastic.
  7. Place in greased bowl.
  8. Cover and let rise until doubled in size (45 to 60 minutes).
  9. Grease two 9 x 5 loaf pans.
  10. Punch down dough and divide into two loaves.
  11. Place in greased pans.
  12. Cover and let rise until doubled (45-60 minutes).
  13. Heat oven to 350F
  14. Bake 35-45 minutes or until deep golden brown and loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
  15. Immediately remove from pans.
  16. Brush with butter, if desired.
