Tangy Turkey Burgers

  1. Preheat the broiler.
  2. Line a broiler pan with foil.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the turkey, green onion, soy sauce, ginger, mustard, and pepper.
  4. Mix well.
  5. Shape mixture into 6 patties.
  6. Place patties on rack in pre- pared pan.
  7. Broil 2 inches from the heat until patties are cooked through.
  8. about 5 minutes per side.
  9. Place the buns on serving plates; place lettuce on buns and top with burgers.
  10. Garnish with scallion brushes and serve.
  11. VARIATION : The typical burger condiments-ketchup, yellow mustard, relish, and pickles-are high in sodium.
  12. For a change of pace, try topping burgers with healthy alternatives such as tomato, red onion, cucumber, bean sprouts, red and green bell pepper, and a little homemade salsa.
  13. Also, make wise bread choices-English muffins and whole-wheat pita pockets are low-fat options.
