Beef Oriental Recipe
- 1 1/2 pound grnd beef
- 1 med. onion, sliced
- 1 clove garlic, chopped (optional)
- 1/4 c. soy sauce
- 2 tbsp. cornstarch
- 2 tbsp. molasses
- 1 teaspoon beef bouillon
- 3/4 c. water
- 1 (6 ounce.) pkg. frzn Chinese pea pods
- 1 (5 ounce.) can water chestnuts, liquid removed and sliced
- 1 (5 ounce.) can bamboo shoots, liquid removed and sliced
- 1 (11 ounce.) can mandarin oranges, liquid removed (reserve liquid)
- Cook and stir meat, onion, garlic in large skillet till meat is brown.
- Drain.
- Mix soy sauce, cornstarch, molasses and stir into meat mix.
- Stir in bouillon, water chestnuts, bamboo shoots and reserved mandarin orange syrup.
- Heat to a boil.
- Reduce heat and cover.
- Simmer 10 min, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in oranges.
- Cover and beat 2 min.
- Serve over rice.
- Serves 6-8.
