Bean Soup With Tamale Dumplings Recipe
- 1/2 pound grnd beef
- 1 tbsp. chili pwdr
- 3/4 c. flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 c. water
- 1 c. minced onion
- 1 tbsp. chili pwdr
- 1 tbsp. instant beef bouillon
- 2 (15 ounce.) cans chili beans
- 1/4 c. minced onion
- 1 1/2 c. corn meal
- 2 teaspoon baking pwdr
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 6 slices bacon, minced
- 1 garlic clove, chopped
- 4 c. water
- Dumplings: Cook grnd beef and 1/4 c. of onion till done.
- Drain off fat.
- Add in 1 Tbsp.
- chili pwdr.
- Cold.
- In a bowl mix cornmeal, flour, baking pwdr, salt and sugar.
- Add in 1 c. of water, stir till mixed.
- Divide into 16 pcs.
- Flour hands and shape each portion around a Tbsp.
- of meat.
- Reserve remaining meat.
- In a pot cook bacon, 1 c. onion and garlic till done.
- Stir in 1 Tbsp.
- chili pwdr and 3 c. water, bouillon, beans and remaining meat.
- Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer.
- Add in dumplings.
- Cover tightly.
- Cook 20 min.
