Homemade Granola

  1. First melt the butter in a 3-quart saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the honey and salt and briefly heat with the butter.
  3. In a separate bowl mix together the oatmeal, wheat germ, flax seed, nuts, brown sugar and cinnamon sugar.
  4. If using dried cranberries and raisins, add them as well.
  5. Turn off the heat from the butter and add the oatmeal mixture.
  6. Stir until everything is coated.
  7. Pour the mixture onto a lightly greased baking sheet.
  8. Spread the mixture out evenly and bake it at 375 degrees for 10 minutes (watch carefully).
  9. It will be a golden brown color.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool.
  11. Break into pieces and store in an airtight container.
