Fay Gartin's Delicious Berry Pie

  1. Combine the sugar and cornstarch.
  2. Add the boiling water and cook until clear.
  3. Add the crushed berries or peaches.
  4. Cook a further 5 minutes.
  5. Remove from the fire and add the butter and cool.
  6. (if using peaches add a bit of almond extract.
  7. ).
  8. Add the fresh berries or peaches to the prebaked pie shell.
  9. Pour the cooled mixture over the fresh fruit and chill.
  10. Serve with whipped cream.
