My Grandma's Kimpira Stir-fry
- 1 pinch Ichimi red chili pepper powder
- 1 pinch Sesame seeds
- 1 1/2 stalks Burdock root
- 1 Carrot
- 2 tbsp Sugar (or beet sugar)
- 1 1/2 tbsp Soy sauce
- 1/2 tbsp Mirin
- 1 Sesame oil, Vegetable oil (as needed)
- Julienne the burdock roots and carrots.
- Heat sesame or vegetable oil in a frying pan, and stir-fry the burdock and carrot.
- Coat the vegetables well in the oil.
- Next, season with sugar and continue stir-frying.
- It's necessary to sweeten the stir-fry.
- Continue until the vegetables have heated through.
- Afterward, season with soy sauce and mirin, and stir-fry until the liquid has evaporated.
- Done.
- Try it with lotus roots.
