Cheesy Winter Greens Casserole

  1. Preheat the oven to 400.
  2. In a large nonstick skillet, heat the butter.
  3. Saute the onion over medium-high heat until soft, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the chard and cook until wilted, about 3 minutes.
  5. Add the spinach and cook 2 minutes more.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the milk and cornstarch.
  7. Add the pan and simmer until slightly thickened, about 5 minutes.
  8. Season with the nutmeg, 1 teaspoon salt and pepper.
  9. Transfer the greens to a 3-quart ceramic baking dish and sprinkle the cheese over the top, followed by the breadcrumbs.
  10. Bake for 15 minutes, until heated through and the top is lightly golden brown.
