Fourth of July Cider Braised Leeks and Apples with Cheddar Dogs

  1. Add olive oil or butter in large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Put leeks and apple.
  3. Cover and cook until tender, stirring occasionally, 8 to 10 minutes.
  4. Stir in caraway seeds and allspice, season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Add cider, bring to boil.
  6. Reduce heat to medium-low.
  7. Simmer, uncovered, until most of liquid is cooked away, 16 to 18 minutes.
  8. Arrange grilled buns on plates.
  9. Spread each with mustard as needed, then top with grilled hot dogs.
  10. Sprinkle dogs with cheese and top with leek mixture.
  11. Serve warm.
