Halushki

  1. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Turn the dough out unto a floured surface.
  3. Roll the dough out to about 14-inch rectangle and 1/4-inch thick.
  4. Cut the dough into 1-inch squares.
  5. Add the dough to the boiling water and cook for about 4 to 5 minutes, or until the dough floats for 1 minute in the water and is fully cooked.
  6. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. Season with salt.
  8. Meanwhile, melt the butter in a large saute pan.
  9. Add the onions.
  10. Season with salt and pepper.
  11. Saute until tender, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  12. In a large mixing bowl, toss the dumplings with the onions and cheese.
  13. Toss well.
  14. Season with salt and pepper.
  15. Spoon into a serving bowl and garnish with parsley.
  16. Serve warm.
  17. In a mixing bowl, combine the water, oil and egg.
  18. Mix well.
  19. Add the salt and 3 cups of the flour.
  20. Mix until the dough comes together and form a smooth ball.
  21. **If the dough is too sticky-add a little more flour, about 1/4 cup at a time.
  22. Cover with plastic wrap and allow to rest for 30 minutes.
