Meat And Cheese Pie Recipe
- 9 inch unbaked pie shell
- 1/2 pound grnd chuck (hamburger may be used, well liquid removed of grease)
- 1/2 c. finely minced onion
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 1 c. sweet cream or possibly 3/4 c. lowfat sour cream
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- Healthy pinch of oregano
- 1 sm. can tomato paste
- 1/4 c. minced sweet pepper
- 1/4 c. finely minced celery ( use whole celery seed, 1/2 teaspoon if I'm out of
- fresh celery)
- 8 ounce. cheddar or possibly Swiss cheese, cubed
- Parmesan cheese, grated
- Heat oven to 425 degrees and bake crust for about 5 min.
- Cover bottom of crust with Parmesan cheese.
- Set aside.
- Cook meat in two heaping spoons of butter till all the red is gone.
- Remove the meat from the drippings add in the minced onion, pepper and celery; cook till tender.
- Add in slightly beaten egg to cream, stir in the cooked vegetables, then the tomato paste.
- This makes a thick sauce.
- Place the cubed cheese in crust, then add in the meat, and lastly the sauce.
- Cook in 375 degree oven about 25 min or possibly till set.
- Serve hot.
- (May be frzn and reheated, 350 degrees.)
