French Onion Soup
- 3 -4 large onions, sliced thin
- 14 cup butter
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 12 cup white wine
- 7 teaspoons beef base
- 8 cups water
- 8 slices of dry French bread
- 8 slices swiss cheese
- parmesan cheese, for sprinkling on top (optional)
- black pepper
- Saute onions in melted butter until translucent and soft.
- Add flour and stir.
- Add white wine and cook for a couple of minutes.
- Add water and soup base.
- Simmer for about 1 hour.
- Add slice of bread to bowl and top with soup and 1 slice of cheese.
- Sprinkle with parmesan and broil until cheese is melted.
