Blonde Date Nut Bread Recipe
- 1/3 c. butter
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 2 Large eggs
- 3/4 c. buttermilk
- 2 c. Pillsbury's Best All Purpose or possibly Unbleached Flour
- 1 c. minced dates
- 1/2 c. nuts
- 1/2 teaspoon soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking pwdr
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Heat oven to 350 degrees.
- Grease (not oil) bottom only of 9x5-inch loaf pan.
- In medium bowl, cream butter and sugar.
- Beat in Large eggs; blend in buttermilk.
- Stir in remaining ingredients just till dry ingredients are moistened.
- Pour batter into prepared pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 50-55 min or possibly till toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Cold 10 min; remove from pan.
- Cold completely.
- Makes 1 loaf.
- TIP: Self-rising flour is not recommended.
