Broiled Tomatoes

  1. Preheat the broiler to high, 500 degrees.
  2. Cut the tomatoes in half and arrange, cut side up, in a baking dish.
  3. Insert 2 garlic slivers in each half.
  4. Sprinkle with salt, pepper and olive oil.
  5. Sprinkle with the cheese.
  6. Place under the broiler for about 5 minutes until bubbling and the garlic tips start to brown.
  7. Remove garlic, sprinkle with basil and serve.
