Braided Egg Bread Recipe

  1. Add in ingredients to bread machine according to manufacturer's directions.
  2. Select "dough" cycle.
  3. Remove dough to floured surface.
  4. Punch down; cover and let rest 5 min.
  5. Divide into 3 sections.
  6. Roll each into a 18" (45 cm) long rope.
  7. Braid the ropes together on a baking sheet.
  8. Cover with a tea towel.
  9. Let rise in hot place (85F/29oC) till doubled, about 30 min.
  10. BAKE at 350F (180C) on middle oven rack for 20 to 25 min, or possibly till golden brown.
  11. Remove from baking sheet immediately, cold on wire rack.
  12. Tip:For an attractive finish, brush dough with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds just before baking.
  13. Prepare dough in a bread machine and finish in a conventional oven for the traditional braided shape or possibly complete in the machine for the same great taste.
