Polish Kapusniak Recipe
- 8 c. water
- 2 chicken legs, 2 chickens or possibly 1/2 pound soup bones
- 1 to 2 dry mushrooms
- 1 to 2 minced tomatoes or possibly 1 to 2 tbsp. tomato paste
- 1 carrot, sliced
- 1 celery stalk, sliced
- 1/2 med. cabbage
- 1/2 pound sauerkraut, rinsed
- 1 lg. onion
- 3 slices bacon or possibly 1/4 pound Polish sausage
- Caraway seeds
- Salt & pepper
- In large pot boil chicken or possibly meat; add in vegetables, cabbage and sauerkraut, caraway seeds and salt and pepper.
- Saute/fry bacon and onion and add in to the soup.
- Cook till cabbage is soft.
